Making Things Happen for Yellow Dress Boutique

I’m not quite sure how I found out about Lara Casey and Emily Ley, but I sure am glad that I did.  When I discovered the “Making Things Happen” workshop I knew it was something that I would LOVE to attend in order to get myself in gear with Yellow Dress Boutique and my life in general.  So when it was announced that the 2013 Making Things Happen conference would be held close to Raleigh, in Chapel Hill I was elated.  I knew that it was a sign, so I thought about it and prayed about it and decided to Make. It. Happen. And so I did.

I am pleased to announce, that I will be attending the 2013 “Making Things Happen” intensive which is “an intensive designed to fire you up and get you on a powerful path to making big things happen in life and in business.”

I am so excited to head to Carolina Inn in March to hear what some of the most inspirational ladies (in my opinion) of branding have to say. I can’t wait to see the changes that I’m sure will be in store for Yellow Dress Boutique are going to be.  I’m already feeling so inspired, the minute I submitted my registration, I just felt so… inspired. And ready.  Ready to make things happen.  Ready to do, ready to be – well you get the picture. I am so ready.

Spring Fashion Inspiration

With the launch of Yellow Dress Boutique website, getting closer and closer, it’s time that I start thinking about things I want to stock.  I’m actually going to be hosting a buying party with some of my friends, where I will show them things I’m thinking of stocking and they can tell me YAY! or NAY!

It only makes sense to carry Spring arrivals since the website will be launching in early April (dream date, April 1st).

So here is what I’m thinking:

Understated religious pieces – source

Fashionable basics – source

Fun and flirty – source

Unique prints – source

Color Inspiration…

You know, it hasn’t been a cold winter (knock on wood), but it certainly feels like its been a long time since the last sundress season (my favorite season).  In NC, it’s normally from April – October.

I’ve been craving those dresses alot lately, so I’m definitely going to get a bunch in stock for when the website launches.  Color is also BIG to me, if you haven’t had a chance to weigh in on my website colors, click here.

According to Pantone, the color of 2013 is Emerald.

I’m really glad, because I LOVE this deep green.  It’s gorgeous.

To find color inspiration for other colors, I like to go to Pinterest, (you can follow me by clicking here) and search “Color Inspiration” and I am always surprised by the gorgeous combinations that come up that I would never in a million years have thought of by myself, but they just work.

Some of the other gorgeous combinations I love:

Coral and turquoise – this is actually my inspiration for my master bathroom.

Love the contrast here.

Love.  So feminine, but structured.  You can buy the pillows here.

This inspiration is from nature itself.  Wow.  How bright and fun.

What are your favorite colors?  What colors would you like to see on the Yellow Dress Boutique website?

Playing the Waiting game…

I’m anxious to get the website up and show you all what I’ve been working on (and the cute stuff I have for Spring) but right now I’m playing the waiting game.  Waiting on the state, waiting on approval, waiting on loans, just waiting and waiting.  I know in the end it will be worth it, and there’s no sense in rushing it now as this has been a 3+ year journey to get Yellow Dress Boutique to this point.

At this point, I’m looking at an April 1st launch.  Any sooner would be AMAZING but I’m trying to be realistic.  Everyday (well, night since I end up doing all my work at night), I get to cross another thing off my to-do list, and I love the feeling of accomplishment that comes with it.  I’ve even been adding things to my list that I’ve already done, just to cross them off (hello OCD)!

Everyday I get more and more excited to show you what I’ve been working on and I promise it will be worth the wait.

For now, I’ll give you a teaser with some pictures of my color scheme (I think I’ve settled on this one, at least)… I love the contrast of yellow and navy mixed with the in-between gray.  Yes, I think this is the one for the website.
