Hey y’all! The boutique has a name! Since pictures speak a thousand words, I think I’ll let the logo speak for itself:
I’m so excited!!!!!! LaMaLu Boutique! What do you think? I’ll have to share the story behind the name with you soon.
Well, it’s been quite a week. I don’t know if you noticed, but Yellow Dress Boutique has a logo!!! WOOHOO!!!!!
I have to say a HUGE thank you to my friend (old roommate) Erica for designing it. She is so great for doing this for me, because goodness knows I am extremely indecisive. I’m so glad to have settled on a logo (finally) and this means I’m just one step closer to launch (woohoo!).
Just being able to cross one thing off my list makes me enormously happy. I still have quite a way to go – but the logo means I can finally start ordering some marketing materials.
I have alot to do but I am 100% determined and ready to launch.
My sweet friend, who I have been working with (ok, she’s doing all the work, I’m just being indecisive) – well, we’re getting closer to exactly what I had in mind. At this point, I think we just have a few different alignment changes and a font change (but who knows). I really appreciate being able to work with my good friend who is a graphic designer, because she will honestly tell me what looks like crap and what doesn’t (and believe me, she doesn’t hold back). I’m really, really, really hoping that we can finalize the logo this weekend because it would be great to cross something off my list during my birthday weekend (my 25th bday is Friday, February 1st – eek 25). Speaking of to-do lists, mine is OVER a page long for Yellow Dress Boutique – that’s alot of stuff to do before April 1st!
The “big day” that I eluded to in the title, is actually because I got information about a hearing I have to attend in order to be able to run Yellow Dress Boutique the way that I want to! I’m very excited to have confirmation because, it means I’m just one step closer to being able to launch – and that’s exciting!!!!!!
Tell me : What are you excited about?
So I changed my mind. For those of you who know me, you probably aren’t surprised. Ooops.Remember when I posted my website colors? Well, I lied.
And after really thinking and praying and dreaming about it, I decided to go a slightly different route. I’m going to keep the secret for now – but I will tell you, it involves YELLOW!
Right now, I’m drafting the final logo (my sweet friend Erica and I), and when it’s ready, I can’t wait to show you. I’m so excited because once its done and finalized, I can finally order business cards and get my website up.
The logo is actually a pretty big part of every brand. It promotes brand recognition, it needs to engage people, be memorable, relevant, and visually promote (and explain – my opinion) your brand without really saying a word. Gulp. When I think about it, the Yellow Dress Boutique logo will likely be on every piece of marketing that I use. It will be the “face” of my brand, the “eye” into the soul of my brand. Man, I wish I had a background in marketing.
In order to really dive into this, I decided to look at the logos for some clothing brands (regardless of type of clothing) that I respect. I looked at what I really liked about their logos, and how I perceive their brands because of their logos.
Let’s look at some:
Lilly Pulitzer logo – what I like:
Lilly Pulitzer logo – what I don’t like
Kate Spade logo – What I like:

Am I seeing a trend? It seems like logos of BIG brands are simple but bold. I think I need to take a look at logos of smaller brands (think local).
What do you think? Do you perceive brands differently based upon their logos?
