Remember when I spent a few hours playing around with the LaMaLu logo to create this? Well as you know I ordered tags from 48hourprint and they came last week.
They turned out great – I will definitely be ordering more from 48HourPrint.com. I can’t wait to see these tags on some amazing LaMaLu dresses.
I’m making progress – and I’m so excited.
Let me know what you think!
Hi Everyone! Hope y’all are having a fantastic week. I just wanted to stop by to say I received the LaMaLu Boutique, LLC Business license in the mail today! I’m so excited and I can’t wait to finish getting everything ready for launch.
Have a great weekend.
Happy weekend y’all! Spring has finally sprung here in NC. The amount of pollen in the air is insane, but since it’s no longer cold, I can’t complain. Plus, I love yellow (not allergies, though). Anyways….
After attending Making Things Happen, I asked some of the girls that I met which printers they recommended for shop/ marketing materials like business cards, postcards, stickers and tags and told me about 48hourprint.com so I checked it out and found that their prices were great (especially compared to what I was looking at spending before) and who doesn’t love to save some money? So with the logo that I just had made, I went to work creating tags for LaMaLu Boutique! (I just love saying it (and by saying it, I mean typing it)).
I figured out exactly what I wanted to get and added it to my cart. What I really loved about 48HourPrint, was that I could see a proof once I finally uploaded the image – but to upload the image, I had to figure out how to crop the image to 2.25 x 2.25 with 300 dpi (phew). And did I mention that my sweet graphic designer friend is out of town this weekend? Since I don’t have Photoshop, it turned into quite the feat, I had to find an online photo editor, I ended up using pixlr.com and then because of the width of the image, I decided to divide the logo up and reformat it as such:
Let me tell you, it was quite the learning experience but I have to say, for free software, Pixlr.com, is great. So long story short: I did it! and the tags should be here next week – I can’t wait to show you.
Hope everyone has a great weekend! I have some more boutique shopping to do. Let me know what you would like to see in the boutique.
Hey y’all! The boutique has a name! Since pictures speak a thousand words, I think I’ll let the logo speak for itself:
I’m so excited!!!!!! LaMaLu Boutique! What do you think? I’ll have to share the story behind the name with you soon.
Despite various setbacks that I keep hitting. I am determined to make this my year. The year I launch the boutique. Obviously, April 1st isn’t possible – now I’m targeting June 1st. I have alot to do to get ready for launch but I’m ready. I just got back from an amazing vacation, I visited Albuquerque New Mexico, Las Vegas Nevada and Aztec New Mexico. I have to admit, I’m pretty exhausted, but at that same time I’m so renewed.
Making Things Happen last month, really fired me up and inspired me to keep moving along. One of the things that was stressed at MTH, was social media free weekends. I’ve been toying (and I actually managed to do it once on a Sunday) with the idea, but never dived in. I’m ready. I’m so ready to break my “dependence” on my iPhone. I mean seriously, who wants to be glued to their phone 24/7? Not me!
Question: Do you think you spend too much time using social media?
“Close, but no cigar” – does anyone even say that other than my parents?
I feel so close, yet so far to launching the boutique. There are some things that still need to be worked out, supply wise and legally that are holding me up. I actually found out from my lawyer, that I need to change the name of the boutique. So I’m working on that now, I have a few ideas, I just need to draft a new logo.
I also attended Making Things Happen this week and it absolutely changed me (I’ll try to have a review of my experience up this week). I have decided that instead of carrying alot of things in the boutique that I like, I would rather only carry a few things that I absolutely loved. So I will be hand selecting and only selling things that I love. I believe that the more that I love my products, the more that you will, too.
After all, Small is the New Big.
I’m not quite sure how I found out about Lara Casey and Emily Ley, but I sure am glad that I did. When I discovered the “Making Things Happen” workshop I knew it was something that I would LOVE to attend in order to get myself in gear with Yellow Dress Boutique and my life in general. So when it was announced that the 2013 Making Things Happen conference would be held close to Raleigh, in Chapel Hill I was elated. I knew that it was a sign, so I thought about it and prayed about it and decided to Make. It. Happen. And so I did.
I am pleased to announce, that I will be attending the 2013 “Making Things Happen” intensive which is “an intensive designed to fire you up and get you on a powerful path to making big things happen in life and in business.”
I am so excited to head to Carolina Inn in March to hear what some of the most inspirational ladies (in my opinion) of branding have to say. I can’t wait to see the changes that I’m sure will be in store for Yellow Dress Boutique are going to be. I’m already feeling so inspired, the minute I submitted my registration, I just felt so… inspired. And ready. Ready to make things happen. Ready to do, ready to be – well you get the picture. I am so ready.
With the launch of Yellow Dress Boutique website, getting closer and closer, it’s time that I start thinking about things I want to stock. I’m actually going to be hosting a buying party with some of my friends, where I will show them things I’m thinking of stocking and they can tell me YAY! or NAY!
It only makes sense to carry Spring arrivals since the website will be launching in early April (dream date, April 1st).
So here is what I’m thinking:
Bright colors – source
Understated religious pieces – source
Fashionable basics – source
Fun and flirty – source
Unique prints – source
Sweet and whimsical – source
What are your thoughts? Anything that you would like to see?
Well, it’s been quite a week. I don’t know if you noticed, but Yellow Dress Boutique has a logo!!! WOOHOO!!!!!
I have to say a HUGE thank you to my friend (old roommate) Erica for designing it. She is so great for doing this for me, because goodness knows I am extremely indecisive. I’m so glad to have settled on a logo (finally) and this means I’m just one step closer to launch (woohoo!).
Just being able to cross one thing off my list makes me enormously happy. I still have quite a way to go – but the logo means I can finally start ordering some marketing materials.
I have alot to do but I am 100% determined and ready to launch.
So… Remember when I poured my heart out to you about logos and color decisions? And then changed my mind?
My sweet friend, who I have been working with (ok, she’s doing all the work, I’m just being indecisive) – well, we’re getting closer to exactly what I had in mind. At this point, I think we just have a few different alignment changes and a font change (but who knows). I really appreciate being able to work with my good friend who is a graphic designer, because she will honestly tell me what looks like crap and what doesn’t (and believe me, she doesn’t hold back). I’m really, really, really hoping that we can finalize the logo this weekend because it would be great to cross something off my list during my birthday weekend (my 25th bday is Friday, February 1st – eek 25). Speaking of to-do lists, mine is OVER a page long for Yellow Dress Boutique – that’s alot of stuff to do before April 1st!
The “big day” that I eluded to in the title, is actually because I got information about a hearing I have to attend in order to be able to run Yellow Dress Boutique the way that I want to! I’m very excited to have confirmation because, it means I’m just one step closer to being able to launch – and that’s exciting!!!!!!
Tell me : What are you excited about?
